Factions Guild Hall review by Real and Avril Cloud
Real and Avril Cloud have worked as leaders and GvG Commanders both seperately and together for Guilds rated as high as the top 50 and between them have participated and commanded in excess of 1000 GvGs winning many battles that the participants believed lost through careful thought, quick and efficient application of battlefield tactics. They took the opportunity to review the new Guild Halls available in Guild Wars Factions with a view to the tactical advantages each map possessed.
Isle of Weeping Stone:
Dark green and blue coloured
Water outside the gates - blessed water - enchantments last 20% longer
flag stand has 2 side entrances and a middle gate
looks good for attacking, split quadding and hiding
map is huge
will require coordination to defend
Isle of Meditation:
Sweet looking Japanese feel
Archer platforms alongside the Guild Lord
Very much shaped like the warriors hall (diamond shaped)
2 exits to the flag enclosures
2 flag stands
the obelisk flagstand causes damage to opponents and the tower flag stand gives morale boost
either all members to tower stand or split quad for both
the map has large structures but the playing area is very small
no area to hide, all movements seen
Imperial Isle:
Very Red!
Open GL enclosure (all are very similar in this regard)
Res point is a long way from GL - poss good for ganking, poor for defence
2 doors - 1 to main floor, other to bridge to main floor or along side to acid trap and teleports
acid traps for damage along side
flag stand is very open
Isle of Jade:
Appropriately named - very much a turquoise colour
Res point is very close to GL
1 gate heads to a teleport and coral (slow movement and give damage)
1 gate leads to bridge
both lead to flag stand in central ground
flag stand is very open on sides and front with a bridge behind
the members going through the teleport get coral on both sides (dmg per second when moving and slowed movement)
Our opinion:
If rating the Guild Halls on tactical advantages for GvGs:
1. Stone
2. Jade
3. Imperial
4. Meditation
If rating on visual appeal:
1. Meditation
2. Imperial
3. Stone
4. Jade
We'd say that people should not be buying any improvements to the Guild Hall until they've worked out where they want to be housed (there is a chance that the improvements will be lost with a change of the hall), and before making a decision on that we’d suggest they try them out, sigils are relatively cheap.
Enjoy your GvG
