This recent game update set the game up for the Nightfall preview event, and added a few other nifty changes, including "Updated the artificial intelligence of all henchmen."

Also, the Nightfall preview event was delayed by 5 hours, meaning we should probably wait for Friday morning, rather than starting tonight at midnight PDT.
